In 2013, Eastern Guruma was responsible for designing and constructing landscaping for Kangi Camp at Fortescue Metals’ Solomon Mine. This project involved challenges such as establishing a lawn on sloping banks around the accommodation facilities. The Eastern Guruma Landscaping team used a hydro-mulcher to seed the banks with grass which allowed them to plant and condition the lawn on the sloping areas without risk of injury to employees working on steep slopes.

Now the lawn is established, the team use an autonomous mower operated via remote control to mow the lawn as part of ongoing landscaping maintenance at Kangi Camp. The ongoing Grounds Maintenance contract involves maintenance of lawns, plants and keeping all camp areas tidy as well as improvements to landscaping around Kangi Camp and other camps. Recent works include a beautification project at Kangi Camp, landscaping around Solomon mine site offices, and  extensive spray programs for control  of weeds.
